Rua Principal at Vila Meã sets this one well outside the Barcelos street grid, in the farmland where the Cávado valley starts to open out. The house is a solar, the manor form of the Minho, and the interior keeps hardwood or parquet floors and soundproofing to match. Rooms are air-conditioned with garden views, a work desk, a minibar, a wardrobe and a coffee machine, and the bathrooms run to bathrobes, slippers and free toiletries. The wellness side is why most guests come: a spa and wellness centre with a hot tub and massage, a fitness centre, and both saltwater and indoor swimming pools, with a kids' pool, pool and beach towels, sun umbrellas and loungers out on the terrace.
