Largo Marechal Gomes da Costa faces the Barcelos railway station, and the residencial takes its name from exactly that: this is the station solar. The setting is a working corner of town rather than a preserved one, with the Campo da República and the Thursday feira a short walk uphill, and the Cávado and its medieval bridge beyond. Rooms keep hardwood or parquet floors, air conditioning, heating, city views, and private bathrooms with a bath or shower, free toiletries, linen, a wardrobe and a socket beside the bed. Flat-screen televisions carry satellite channels. Family rooms are available. Downstairs there is a coffee house, a minimarket, a barber and beauty shop and executive lounge access, with daily housekeeping and fax and photocopying for anyone working. One honest limitation: the upper floors are reached by stairs only.
